Helpful Tips:

If your horses have a bad habit of
chewing wood, rub some mild bars of
soap on your wooden fence rails or
fence post tops.  This is a safe and
effective way to discourage them from
doing so!

"From Sulky to Sand Ring -
Providing Second Careers for Off-The-Track
Standardbreds"

Harness racing is an exhilarating sport, with the likes of Somebeachsomewhere,
Deweycheatumanhowe, Art Official, St. Lads Popcorn and Nebupanezzar continuously thrilling
us with exciting competition!  However, some Standardbreds never reach this level of racing
notoriety and we firmly believe that these horses, the ones who have finished their careers on
the track, are still very well suited at learning a new discipline!  They are intelligent, able and
willing to please!  It is our hope that we can erase the myth that Standardbreds have no other
purpose other than racing!  Let's show people what they can do!

New Horizons Equine Center is a 50 acre rescue / rehabilitation facility that focuses on
re-training off-the-track Standardbreds for a second career.  We are located just outside of
Dresden, Ontario, Canada, which is within an hour or two of five major Ontario Standardbred
racetracks; Western Fair Raceway, Windsor Raceway, Hiawatha Horse Park, Dresden
Raceway and Woodstock Raceway.  We believe that even though these horses have finished
their racing career, they are still very able and willing to learn new disciplines!
